As we reach the midpoint of the week, we will take a look at a matchup between two AL squads that are headed in opposite directions in their respective divisions.
The Rangers have been the biggest shock of the MLB so far to begin the year. Coming in with a 45-28 record, they curently sit 4.5 games up on the Los Angeles Angels for the top spot in the AL West. Taking a look at the reason as to why they have come out of the gates flying this season, we do not have to look much further than their superstar shortstop, Corey Seager. In his first 169 at-bats this campaign, he is batting .367, with 10 home runs and 45 RBIs. If he is able to stay on this torrid streak, he will surely be one of the finalists for the MVP later in the season. On the bump for the Rangers in this one will be veteran left hander, Martin Perez. After coming up with the best season of his career in 2022 in his 11th year in the major leagues, he has not been able to find the goods this time around. Nonetheless, against an inferior squad in the White Sox, can he deliver a 2022'esque performance?

The 2023 season has not been a kind one to the Chicago White Sox. Although I am not sure anyone expected them to be contending for a World Series this year, a 32-43 record was surely not in the cards. Looking on the bright side for them though, they are only 4.5 games back of the first place Minnesota Twins in the NL Central. If they are able to catch their stride as the season moves along, the division is wide open for anyone to take. On the mound for the White Sox in tonight's game will be flame thrower, Michael Kopech. Looking at his production for the season up until this point, from afar it looks as though he is performing at a mediocre rate. But, when you look at how poorly he was pitching in his first ten or so starts, he has bounced back tremendously. Can Kopech continue to deal for the Sox inside Guaranteed Rate Field?
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- Texas is 29-15 as the favorite
- The Rangers are 32-17 in league games
- The White Sox are 4-10 as a home underdog
Perez has not been the man he was a year ago, but I still believe he has enough in the tank to help his team bounce back from their heartbreaking loss that they suffered last night by a score of 7-6. Even though Chicago secured a win last night, the White Sox have still only won three out of their last ten games, an immediate sign of a struggling bunch. Give me the Rangers to tie the series up in a route on Wednesday night!
