Betting Odds: Tennessee -8.5 (-115) - Over/Under (151.5)

Pick: Tennessee -8.5 (-115)

The Tennessee Volunteers will travel to Arkansas to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks here on Wednesday night. These two SEC rivals will be meeting for the first time this season and they will renew their season series here on Valentine’s Day. There will be anything but love in the air when this game tips off. Both of these teams came into the season with high expectations, but so far only one of those teams has lived up to those expectations this year. Both teams come into this game sitting on the bubble of the NCAA Tournament and they will look to improve their resume with a quality victory in this game.

Tennessee has put together a fantastic regular season, and they are considered a dark horse to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament. However, they will need to remain healthy and consistent throughout the remainder of the regular season. They will have an opportunity to accomplish that in this game on Wednesday night on the road against Arkansas. As they look to add another conference victory to their résumé and further solidify their place at the top of the SEC standings heading into the conference tournament.

It will be important for them to finish inside the top of the conference, as it’ll give them a double bye in the SEC conference tournament. Earning that top four finish will make it much easier for them to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament without having to sweat out selection Sunday. Tennessee has been led by Dalton Knecht this season with his 20 points per game average and he will look to snap their one game losing streak with another solid performance. As they look to snapback after being blown out by Texas A&M on the road in their previous contest.

It has been a pretty average season for Arkansas, and unless they go on a miraculous run from now until the end of the season, they will likely find themselves sitting at home during March Madness. They come into this game hovering right around .500 with 12 victories and 11 losses to their first 23 games of the regular season. They would likely have to finish out the regular season undefeated and make a quality run through the SEC conference tournament if they want bubble consideration. Otherwise they will likely need to win the automatic bid into the NCAA tournament, but winning the SEC conference tournament. Plenty of things have gone wrong for Arkansas this season, and they will overcome those issues and grab an upset victory here at home on Wednesday night against Tennessee.

Arkansas has won two out of their last three games on the season as they are starting to heat up and they will look for a second consecutive home victory after beating Georgia at home in their previous game. They have been abysmal against ranked opposition this season and that has been something that has hurt them in the long run and will likely continue to hurt them throughout the remainder of the regular season and into the conference tournament as well. Although they are averaging 76 points per game this season their defense has let them down time and time again as they are giving up over 77 points per game and that is not sustainable for winning games in the SEC. That’ll likely be an issue in this game once again against a highflying Tennessee offense, and that is why I expect Arkansas to be on the short end of the stick throughout this game on Wednesday night.

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- Arkansas is 1-4 against ranked opponents

- Tennessee is 16-3 as a favorite

- Arkansas is 3-8 as an underdog

I look for the Tennessee Volunteers to pick up a comfortable victory on the road against the Arkansas Razorbacks, and I expect the Tennessee Volunteers to cover the spread in the process. As I look for Dalton Knecht to put up yet another fantastic scoring performance, as he looks to further establish himself as a potential National Player Of The Year award winner. As this game will likely be all Tennessee in the closing minutes, in what will be another résumé building victory for Tennessee away from home here on Valentine’s Day against Arkansas.
