Betting Odds: Cardinals (-140) / Over/Under (8.5)
Pick: Giants ML (+115)
As the middle of the week dawns upon us, let's head into Busch Stadium to take a look at the last game of the series between the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals.
San Francisco has been able to take the first two from the Cardinals in their home ball park by a combined score of 15-6. Even though many are not talking about them around the league as a team who can make some noise as the season moves along, now on a three-game win streak and being 7-3 in their last ten games, the Giants are quietly beginning to find their groove as we inch closer to the midpoint in the season. It seems as though every single night, someone else is having a monstrous performance at the moment. Yesterday, the man that stepped up to the plate in a big way was Michael Conforto. He went 4-6 with 3 RBIs to go along with his hitting outburst. Moving into the getaway game come first pitch on Wednesday, who is going to be the next man to step up for the Giants to help them in search for a sweep?

Every time I think it can not get worse for the St. Louis Cardinals, it seems to get worse. Now with an abysmal 27-41 record, it may be time that we start to see some major changeups in the lineup and pitching rotation in order to spark a fire under this team. After an impressive season last year in which they were able to make the Playoffs, this campaign has been a true letdown after coming in with World Series aspirations into Spring Training. If there is anything positive as a Cardinals fan that you can take out of the poor start though, is the fact that there is not one dominant team in the division who has pulled away from the pack yet. The Pirates currently sit atop the NL Central, but are only leading by a mere 1.0 game and are just 34-31. Although I am not saying that this simply means the Cardinals have a chance to get back into the thick of things, I am saying that the door is more open in this division than the majority of other divisions if they can get their act together.
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- San Francisco is 18-12 as the underdog
- The Giants are 10-7 as the away underdog
- St. Louis is 17-27 in games against NL opponents
This line screams trap for the Giants as they are playing far better than the Cardinals and are the underdogs in this one. Nonetheless, I am going to take the bait and ride with the Giants to sweep the Cardinals out of their home ballpark, as I feel as though this number is a bit disrespectful with the pitching matchup being almost identical and the Giants being plus-money.
