Betting Odds: Padres (-125) / Over/Under (8.5)

Pick: Giants ML (+105)

With the limited slate on Thursday in the MLB, let's head out to Oracle Park to take a look at the last game of the series between the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants.

San Diego has been one of the more disappointing teams in the National League this season, coming in with a 35-39 record. Now sitting 9.5 games back of the Arizona Diamondbacks for the top seed in the NL West, time is ticking on them to right the ship and make a push for a Wildcard spot. Looking at their lineup, their 1-4 hitters are up there with the best in the league. Tatis Jr., Soto, Machado, and Bogaerts is a superstar bunch that can surely turn their season around if they are able to heat up at the same time. On the mound for the Padres for Thursday's game will be veteran left hander, Blake Snell. He has had no problem building on his stellar season last campain making his way into this one as he boasts a 3.48 ERA. With San Diego trying to avoid the possibility of an embarassing four-game sweep against their division rivals, can Snell deliver once again?

San Francisco has completely taken the league by storm over the past two weeks. After last night's win, they are now riding a ten-game win streak, only one behind the Cincinnati Reds, who are on an eleven-game win streak at the moment. Eveything that can go right for the Giants, has gone right in tremendous fashion. After for years it felt like they had limited options in the minor leagues to take over for the mainstays that had been keeping the organization afloat for a decade, have we finally reached the point where the youngsters are ready to take over. Luis Matos, Blake Sabol, Patrick Bailey, and Casey Schmitt have all had their own big games in the majors this season, and have collectively shocked the Giants roster with a sense of youth and enthusiasm. Nonetheless, against a funky lefty in Snell, can they hold their own to extend their win streak to eleven?

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- San Francisco is 10-0 in their last ten games

- The Giants are 11-3 as a home underdog

- The Giants are 26-12 as an underdog

- The under is 31-20-2 when the Padres are the favorite

Blake Snell has pitched immaculate over his last five starts made, only letting up two earned runs over his last 30.0 innings pitched, but how can you possibly feel confident in backing the Padres in this one with the Giants playing as good as any team in the majors. It is not the smartest idea to just back a team due to the win streak that they are on, but I absolutely love the way the Giants are playing right now. Additionally, Alex Wood is coming off of a 5.0 inning shut out himself; keeping the good vibes at an all time high for SF. Give me the Giants to roll today!
