Betting Odds: Dodgers (-135) / Over/Under (8.5)
Pick: Giants ML (+115)
Sunday afternoon gives us the last game of the series between the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers, with both squads looking to gain some momentum into the new week.
The Giants have been playing some of the best ball of the year in the major leagues so far as they come into Sunday's game on a six game win streak. Throughout this past week, it seems as though they have been obliterating the ball game after game. During their win streak they have scored 5+ runs in five of those games, and a large part because of that has been from the spark of rising prospect Luis Matos. In his short stay with the Giants since being called up he has an OBP over .500 and has positively impacted the game in every way possible. If the Giants are to contend for the division as the season progresses, the development of Matos at center field will have a huge say in whether or not they are able to do so. On the bump for the Giants will be ace Logan Webb. In his first fourteen starts to begin the campaign he boasts a 3.15 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP. As the Giants go for the sweep in the Dodgers' home park, can Webb silence the bats against their division foes?

Los Angeles did not look great at all last night as they were blown out embarassingly on their home field. Nonetheless, they come in with a solid 39-32 record. Looking at the NL West standings, if they expect to jump the leading Diamondbacks at some point in the second half of the season, they will need to put it together on both sides of the ball. On the mound for the Dodgers today will be 29 year-old Tony Gonsolin. After finishing the season in 2022 with a superb 2.14 ERA, he has upped that a notch, as he comes in with a 1.93 ERA in his first nine starts made this year. Even though the Dodgers pitching staff has been weary at times this season, he has surely been a key cog in the rotation that has helped them get to where they are today. Can the Dodgers salvage a win against their rivals before a much needed off day?
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- The Giants are 13-7 when playing as the road underdog
- San Francisco is 21-12 when playing as the underdog
- The under is 11-8-1 in Dodgers' division games
With the Giants looking to make a statement with a sweep against the Dodgers, the onus will be on Webb to keep L.A.'s bats down. Despite the fact that it is difficult to beat a team after destroying them the prior day, I am going to side with the men in black and orange to complete the sweep. Give me Webb and the G's to continue on their stunning win streak!
