Pick: Knicks (-8.5)

Tonight we will be visiting a matchup that we just saw a week ago between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks. Contrary to last week's matchup though, this one will be played in the famous Madison Square Garden, where Knick's supporters will attempt to give their team the extra push they need to rebound against this abysmal Spurs team.

If you are new here, this San Antonio team is not the San Antonio team years ago that was a lock to make it to the playoffs every single year and fight for championships. Gregg Popovich and his squad are under a massive rebuild that has been hard to watch at times. Apart from the many negatives that come out of this team though, Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, and Jeremy Sochan are three of their best pieces that have given them great minutes over the year at times. They will look to build around these 3 in years to come to get back to contending in the mighty Western Conference. Until then, they are a struggling squad, especially on the road. They are 6-11 ATS on the road this year, ranked 7th worst in the NBA. If they want to repeat their performance that they came up with last week in San Antonio, they will have to improve on the defensive side of the ball, where they have let up 115+ in 7 straight games. Coming off of an almost 40 point loss at the Barclays Center two nights ago, can Popovich right the ship and keep his team close in this one?

The Knicks have been a fascinating team to watch at times this season, and one of the worst times to watch in other games. Their big 3 in Julius Randle, RJ Barrett, and newly added Jalen Brunson have been a formidable trio all season, keeping them afloat in the Eastern Conference Standings. It wasn't long ago when they were on an 8 game win streak, which was snapped by the Toronto Raptors at home. This was then followed by four more losses in a row. This stretch gives a glimpse into the roller coaster that they have been on all season. But, off of two blowout wins against the Rockets and Suns in which they gave up less than 90 points in each game, can they continue their dominance on that side of the ball to make sure they stay in the thick of things in the East? Surprisingly, in non-division games, they are 19-12-2 ATS, in which this game qualifies under, so we will see if they can continue on that profitable run.

A few betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- San Antonio is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games

- New York is 11-7 ATS in their last 18 games played as a favorite

- The Spurs are 12-18 ATS in non-division games played this season

This is a game I am confident in New York to get their three stars going in a route against the Spurs. This is a perfect get right spot for them as they will want to revenge their loss last week in San Antonio. They sit firmly in the 8 spot in the East right now, but if they can go on a similar run that they went on last month, they can put themselves in contention for a top 6 seed; which is important as they don't want to be apart of a play-in game. Tom Thibodeau is a defensive-minded head coach that will have his team ready to defend Johnson all night in order to keep the Spurs at distance. Give me the Knicks at home to win by double digits.
