Betting Odds: Suns (-3.5) / Over/Under (TBD)
Pick: Kings (+3.5)
Let's start the weekend off right as we head out west to check out an enticing matchup between two Western Conference contenders when the Sacramento Kings travel into Phoenix to take on the Suns.
Sacramento has shattered every expectation that anyone has put in front of them this season so far. With a 39-26 record, they sit in the 2nd spot in the West coming into this game. Although it is highly unlikely for them to be able to catch the Nuggets by the end of the regular season atop the West, for us even to be talking about the Kings being a part of the Playoff conversation in March is an accomplishment in itself for Sacramento's Organization. Over their last 8 games, they are 7-1 SU (6-2 ATS). This has allowed them to stay above the surrounding teams in the Conference and give themselves a chance at obtaining a high seed going into the Postseason. Head Coach Mike Brown has his squad balling night in and night out, which should have him in a prime position to take home the Coach of the Year honors in the coming months. With the lethal duo of Sabonis and Fox, the Kings could indeed play themselves into upsetting a few squads in the Playoffs if they can stay hot. Without Durant available for the Suns, can the Kings stun another Conference foe and stay on their hot streak?

Phoenix had it all going their way for a few days after Kevin Durant was implemented into the starting lineup. Sadly though, a few nights ago he twisted his ankle in warmups and will now be sidelined for the coming weeks heading into the Playoffs. Although this is a certain big blow for them, the Suns still have a plethora of talent present on their roster. With the likes of Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton, they are still able to more than hold their own as they wait for Durant to get back. This was apparent last game, where the Suns were able to dismantle the Thunder by a score of 132-101, in which Booker was scorching from the field with a 44-point performance. Against a high-flying squad like the Kings, the Suns will need every bit of Booker's game to be at its best if they hope to secure a win against one of the West's surprising teams this season. Over their last 4 games, they have gone 4-0 SU and ATS, winning by a combined 70 points... can they stifle the Kings in their home arena to make it 5/5?
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- Sacramento is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games
- The Kings are 25-11-1 ATS when playing on 1 day of rest
- The over is 23-15-1 when the Suns are playing within the Conference
The Suns looked phenomenal without Durant in their first game without him. In saying this though, the Kings have looked equally impressive over the last few weeks. With both teams clicking on all cylinders coming into this one, I will stick with my gut and back the Kings who have also been excellent on the road this campaign. Fox is a cold-blooded killer down the stretch that seems to deliver whenever his team needs him most. Expect him to do that again Saturday night, as he keeps this game close down the wire.
