After a couple of grueling weeks throughout the NCAA tournament, the men’s national championship game has finally arrived. Two of the teams that were favored to win the title at the beginning of the season, have made it all the way out of the national championship game here on Monday night in Arizona. Purdue and Connecticut will face-off here in this one, and both teams will be looking to grab a national championship victory here as well. For Purdue, they will be searching for their first national title in the tournament era, and Connecticut will look to be the first team to go back to back in nearly two decades. After a thrilling tournament there could not be a better way to cap it off between two of the top teams in the country and two of the top players in the country here on Monday evening.

Purdue has been one of the top teams in the country all season long and they will look to cap it off with a national championship victory here on Monday against Connecticut. They have spent plenty of time ranked as the number one team in the country this season, and they will look to put the final stamp on their season with a victory here in Arizona. Zach Edey has long established himself as the best player in the country, and he will look to put up quality numbers in this game against a Connecticut team that has some solid big men of their own.

He has easily been the most valuable player of this year’s NCAA tournament, and he just continues to put up incredible performance after incredible performance with each passing round. The Boilermakers were arguably the favorites to win the national championship, each of the last two seasons and they came up short. Now they will be the underdogs coming into this national championship game on Monday and they will look to pull a role reversal and take home the title. Edey will have to play his best game of the tournament against Alex Karaban if Purdue wants to come out on top against a Connecticut team that is looking for a second consecutive title.

Connecticut will look to become the first team since the Florida Gators in the mid-2000s to repeat as national champions in back-to-back seasons. Connecticut has looked like one of the most dominant teams in the country all season long and they have looked absolutely unstoppable ever since tournament play started. They are on an absolutely incredible run throughout their conference tournament in the NCAA tournament and nobody has been able to stop them up until this point. They will look to finish the job here on Monday night in Arizona against Purdue as they look to grab their second consecutive national championship and reestablish themselves as a dynasty within men’s basketball.

Ironically enough, the last team to win back to back national championships in all of college basketball was the Connecticut women’s team, which has been a dynasty of their own. Now they will look to capture that same magic on the men’s side with a quality performance here on Monday night against Purdue. Alex Karaban and Tristen Newton have been absolutely incredible this season as they have led the Huskies to the solid campaign and throughout most of this dominant tournament run as well. They will look to put up another solid performance here in this one against arguably the best player in the country when they face off with Zach Edey.

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- UConn is 36-2 as a favorite

- UConn is 15-1 outside of the Big East

- UConn is 11-0 in neutral site games

I look for this to be a close and competitive matchup on Monday night for the national championship. In the end, I look for a similar result, as we’ve been seeing throughout the entirety of this year’s NCAA tournament. As I look for the Connecticut Huskies to pick up the victory in this one and pull away at the end against Purdue. Not only do I look for Connecticut to win their second consecutive national championship in stunning fashion, I also look for them to cover the spread in this game as well.
