Tuesday night brings us an NL clash between two squads that are hoping to continue the good times when the Philadelphia Phillies head into Wrigley Field for a three game series with the Chicago Cubs.

The Phillies have quietly played some of the best baseball in the league over the past few weeks, bringing their record to 40-37 (7-3 in their last ten). Being that the Atlanta Braves seem like they are on a mission to lock up the division by the All-Star break, I am not sure if the Phillies can play their way into contention for the top spot in the NL East, but a Wild Card spot was all they needed in 2022 to make a World Series run. If they can keep playing as well as they are, a few additions at the trade deadline may thrust them into a chance at doing that once again this campaign. On the bump for the Phillies in Tuesday night's game will be left hander, Ranger Suarez. After a few rough starts to begin 2023 for Suarez, he has returned back to his old ways, allowing one or less runs in his last four starts. Can the Phillies give him some run support in Wrigley Field to give him his second win on the year?

Chicago has found a way to turn their season around too over the past weeks. Going 8-2 over their last ten games, they have pulled themselves within 3.0 games of the Milwaukee Brewers atop the NL Central. Although they were only able to split in the London Series with the St. Louis Cardinals, the prior series they swept the Pittsburgh Pirates in their home ballpark in commanding fashion.  To begin this set off with the Phillies, they will have struggling right hander, Jameson Taillon on the mound. In his eight-year career in the big leagues, he has never struggled to the extent he is struggling right now. He comes in with a 2-5 record and a weary 6.71 ERA. Over his first twelve starts made this season, he has only allowed less than three runs in two of those starts. Nonetheless, can he find a way to put it together tonight to give his team a chance at coming out of Wrigley with a win?

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- Philadelphia is 13-7 as the away favorite

- The Phillies are 30-18 as the favorite

- The Cubs are 14-21 as an underdog

Ranger Suarez is someone that I have loved to back over the past few seasons after he broke into the rotation for the Phillies and that will not change tonight. Even though Philadelphia has not been obliterating the ball like they were at points earlier in the season, their lineup is too stacked from 1-9 for them to stay down for much longer. Give me Suarez to give the Phils at least six solid innings and for the bats to tee off on Taillon, who has not been at his best all year long!
