Sunday afternoon offers us a Big Ten battle between two teams on the opposite side of the spectrum, as the Ohio State Buckeyes struggle into Mackey Arena to face off against the Purdue Boilermakers.

Ohio State has put up a true dud this year. After securing a spot in March Madness 4 out of the last 5 years, Chris Holtmann will need a miracle from his team towards the end of the season if they want to sniff college basketball's pinnacle tournament. After promisingly starting their campaign out 10-3, they have managed to lose 12 out of their last 13 games, in which they are an abysmal 1-12 ATS during that stretch. This mark is good for the worst in the country. One bright spot amid a disheartening season from the Buckeyes is Freshman forward, Brice Sensabaugh, who has averaged an impressive 16.3 PPG up until now. Holtmann will hope that he can keep him around for one more year before he heads into the NBA draft to have a key building block for the upcoming season. If Ohio State has any plans in going into Mackey Arena and pulling off one of the upsets of the season, they will need a complete team effort from every man available.

After reaching the #1 spot in the country for a short time, Purdue has run into a wall lately. They have lost 3 of their last 4 games (1-3 ATS in that stretch) and have suffered a few gut-punching losses in the process. Albeit the bad run of games that they are on, the Boilermakers still sit atop the Big Ten Conference and will love their chances of increasing that lead against a Buckeyes squad that hasn't won in a month. The current favorite for Naismith College Player of the Year, Zach Edey, is truly one of the most inspiring stories in CBB history. The 7'4'' man has managed to put up 22.0 PTS and 12.8 REB per game but has struggled to get support around him for stretches in Conference play. If they want to get back to the form that they demonstrated earlier in the season, Matt Painter will need to get a better effort from his secondary pieces so that Edey isn't the only focal point that the opposing team needs to focus on.

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- Ohio State is 1-12 ATS in their last 13 games played

- The Buckeyes are 8-18 ATS in 26 games played this year

- The over has only hit in 5 of 13 games that Purdue has played as the home team

Purdue has put in a few poor performances over the last 2 weeks, but those games were all away from home. As they head back into Mackey Arena for a duel against one of the worst teams in the Big Ten, I fully expect them to get back to their winning ways. Expect Purdue to get the ball to Edey early and often and for the Boilermakers to control this game from start to finish. Give me Purdue by a boatload.
