San Francisco 49ers (13-4) at Philadelphia Eagles (14-3)

Game Info: Sunday, January 29, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. EST (Lincoln Financial Field)

Betting Odds: Eagles (-2.5) / Over/Under (46)

Pick: Eagles (-2.5)

This has been a matchup many of us have been waiting to see, as both of these teams are far and beyond better than any other NFC team. This Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers will fly over to Philadelphia to meet the Eagles in Lincoln Financial Field.

San Francisco has been a covering machine this year, covering the spread in 13 out of their 19 games played. They have won 12 straight games, dating back to late October when they lost to the Chiefs. Many were worried when Brock Purdy was thrown into action after Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo were injured early in the season, but he has stepped into the QB role in San Fran and has made it his own. He has looked poised in every situation he has been thrown in so far, but this Sunday will be a different beast to handle for him. Philadelphia brings a stout defense into this one, having let up the least amount of yards in the air in the NFL in the regular season. Thankfully for Purdy, he is under one of the smartest Head Coaches in the NFL in Kyle Shanahan. Shanahan is a pure mastermind on the offensive side of the ball, and will have to be perfect in this game if he wants to head to Arizona for another Super Bowl appearance.

Philadelphia surely didn't show any rust after the bye week, as they dismantled the New York Giants 38-7 in the Divisional Round last week. Everything was clicking for them in all three phases of the game from the start. If Jalen Hurts is as healthy (if not healthier), as he was last week and all throughout the season, they will be a tough out for the 49ers come kickoff. They are truly blessed at everyone position, and have one of the most talented rosters in the league. They were able to break a run of 4 games without covering last game against the Giants, which went all the way back to early December. The key to success for the Eagles against San Fran is the run game. If Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell are able to amount for over 150+ yards combined, they will have their way, as they will be playing in short-downed distances all game long.

A few betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- Philadelphia is 7-3 ATS in home games

- Philly is getting over 90% of the big money in this matchup

- San Francisco is 3-4 ATS an the road team

- The over has hit in 9 out of 14 games that the Eagles have played in after a win

Philly is getting the majority of the bets from the public, but they are also getting over 90% of the money as well. This has driven the line up from -1 to -2.5 since the line was released. With Hurts in the lineup, the Eagles have flat out looked overpowering this year. Every fairytale must come to an end, and I think Purdy's time has come. If Dak Prescott doesn't make a few bone-headed plays last week, the 49ers wouldn't even be here. The Eagles defense steps up once again and makes the big stops needed in order to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl. Give me Philly to have The Linc rocking all night long into the morning before this line jumps to the field goal mark.
