Betting Odds: Wizards (-2) / Over/Under (225)

Pick: Knicks (+2)

Let's head to the Capital for Friday night's matchup between two teams hoping to close the season out on the right note when the New York Knicks face off against the Washington Wizards in Capital One Arena.

New York has been one of the better squads away from home this season, showing off a 17-12 record. Nothing displays their stellar play away from MSG better than last game's showing against the Atlanta Hawks, where they won by 21 points. It was such an excellent game by the Knicks that it then got Hawks Head Coach Nate McMillan fired in the following days. Star point guard, Jalen Brunson, has been one of the best additions in the off-season. It doesn't matter where the game is being played, he always seems to play with a calmness that surely rubs off on his teammates when they are in sticky situations. Although some players have a dud year after receiving a large contract in the off-season, Brunson has shushed his critics in a big way, currently averaging career-best numbers in PTS, AST, and 3P%. As the last quarter of the regular season heats up, he will have a big say in where the Knicks end up falling in the East standings. Can Brunson and the Knicks head into D.C. and steal a win from the Wizards in a crucial inter-Conference clash?

Washington headed into the All-Star break on a stretch of winning 4 out of 5 games SU (4-1 ATS in that stretch). This good run of form allowed them to jump into the 9th seed in the East standings, giving them hope that they can climb the standings a few more spots to get out of the Play-In game if they can continue to gel on the court. For the length of his 11-year career, shooting guard, Bradley Beal has from the start put his best foot forward for the Wizards organization. He has averaged 22+ points over the last 7 seasons, which has put him in elite company across the league. In saying this though, it has always been the pieces that the Wizards have put around him that haven't produced in the biggest moments on a consistent enough basis to win in the Playoffs. Washington will hope that this year can display a different outcome nonetheless with Kristaps Porzingis, Kyle Kuzma, Deni Avdija, and Corey Kispert all putting exceptional performances in over the past few weeks. Only time will tell if Beal can get the proper help down the stretch to bring success to the Wizards organization when it matters most.

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- New York is 5-1 SU in their last 6 games (4-2 ATS)

- The Knicks are 19-10 ATS as the road team

- Washington is 11-14-1 ATS as the home team

In what should be a tough battle on the road, I love how the Knicks are playing of late. Although it didn't break headlines, the acquisition of Josh Hart at the deadline brings them an elite defender who brings hustle and grit to the floor at all times. He may not always wow you on the scoreboard, but every quality team needs a player like him to win deciding games late in the season. Give me New York to continue their ascend in the East standings with a win in the Capital.
