Week number two of the National Football League season has finally arrived and teams all over the league are looking to get their second consecutive victory to open up the season. Both of these teams will be looking to get their second consecutive victory of the year after they pulled off two very different victories to open up the season. As the New York Jets will head south to Dallas without Aaron Rodgers to take on the Dallas Cowboys inside of Jerry’s World at AT&T Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The New York Jets came into their season opening game on Monday night against the Buffalo Bills with so much hype as they were considered one of the best teams in the AFC this season. However, only for snaps into the new season quarterback, Aaron Rodgers injured his Achilles Tendon and he will be out for the entire year depending on if the New York Jets make the playoffs as he has hinted at a potential playoff comeback over the last few days. Now the New York Jets will turn back to Zach Wilson to lead them to a second consecutive victory to open up the season after he helped lead a solid comeback against Buffalo that ended with a touchdown in overtime on a punt return.
Now New York will face a much tougher task as they take on a Dallas defense that held their New York counterparts, the Giants score list in the opening game of the season last Sunday night after posting 40 points of their own on the offensive side of the football. The New York Jets defense will have to step up in a big way much like they did last weekend when they picked off Josh Allen three times and recovered a fumble late in the game. As they will be the key to the success of the New York Jets this season after the injury to Aaron Rodgers last week. If the Jets defense can shutdown Dak Prescott, then there is a very good chance that New York will leave Dallas with a second consecutive victory.

The Dallas Cowboys had an incredible start to the season last weekend when they blew out the New York Giants and put up 40 points on the board while holding the Giants scoreless as well. Now they will play their second consecutive New York team in a row when they welcome in the New York Giants when they return home for the first time this season. Their defense put up one touchdown and the special teams provided another before Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys offense found the endzone last Sunday night.
Dallas will be hoping they can sort of replicate that performance against Zach Wilson of the New York Jets, because Dak Prescott will certainly have to play better than Josh Allen did last weekend if they want to move the football against this rock hard New York Jets defense on Sunday afternoon at home. They will have to get Tony Pollard even more involved after his solid performance behind this quality offensive line in the opening week of the season as well. As the Dallas Cowboys look to further establish themselves as a contender in the NFC this season.
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- Dallas is averaging 0.0 Points Allowed Per Game
- Dallas leads the all time series 7-5
- Dallas is 1-0 against the spread this season
This game will certainly be a battle of the defense’s here on Sunday afternoon and Dallas and that is why I expect this to be a low scoring and competitive game, but in the end I look for the Dallas Cowboys to come out on top against the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon at home. As I look for Dallas and their offense to do enough to get the job done as well as cover the spread against the New York Jets.
