It is that time of the year. Get ready to get your hands on some wings and relax on the couch for 12 straight hours of non-stop madness. Today we'll be taking our eyes to a 7 vs. 10 battle between the Missouri Tigers and the Utah State Aggies.
Utah State can be one of the sneaky teams in March Madness if they can play at their best which we have seen in spurts throughout the season. They come into this one finishing the season with a 26-8 record, good for 2nd place in the Mountain West behind the San Diego State Aztecs. Additionally, they have also been one of the best teams in the country ATS with a 21-12 record. Although they fell short in the Mountain West Title game this past Saturday, the 3 wins that they secured leading up to that game made them a surefire March Madness squad to look out for. As a team, they can struggle at times on the defensive end, but on the offensive side of the ball, they can score with the best of them in the country. They are one of the only teams that you will see that have 5 players averaging over 10 PPG, making them a tough task to handle for any squad that they face. Can Head Coach Ryan Odom get his troops ready to gain a key win in March Madness for the first time since the 2010-2011 season for Utah State?

Missouri has gone under the radar a bit over the past month. In spite of the fact that they have won 5 out of their last 6 games, they are not getting much attention from the media. Before falling to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Semifinal game in the SEC Tournament, they were able to use a 49-point second half to steal a win from the Tennessee Volunteers on their home court. This was just one of their several impressive wins over the season that boosted them to becoming a 7-seed in March Madness. They are led by the lethal guard duo of Kobe Brown and D'Moi Hodge, who have put together 29.6 PPG combined on the year. If you have not been able to watch the Tigers at all this year, you will be in for a treat when you turn on this game, as Brown and Hodge can light it up from anywhere on the court. In a close battle against the Aggies, Missouri will need every bit of their magic to show up if they want a chance in advancing to the Second Round.
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- Utah State is 6-1 ATS when playing on 4+ days of rest
- The Aggies are 21-8 ATS when playing as the favorite
- The over has hit in 8 out of 13 games that that the Tigers have played in non-Conference matchups
This line opened up with Utah State being favored by 1 point and has stayed in that range up to me writing this. When we look deeper at the splits between the Public vs. Pros though, we can see that only 40% of the bets are on the Aggies, while they are bringing in over 60% of the money. With a +20% split, we can clearly see where the big money is coming in from. Thankfully, I completely agree with the Pros in this one. Utah State boasts one of the most powerful offenses in the country and I expect them to display that on the biggest stage in one of the first games in March Madness. Give me the Aggies by at least a bucket!
