Milwaukee Bucks (26-14) at Atlanta Hawks (19-21)

Game Info: Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. EST (State Farm Arena)

Betting Odds: Bucks (-1) / Over/Under (231.5)

Pick: Hawks ML

In what could be an early Eastern Conference Playoff series later in the year, the Milwaukee Bucks will travel into The Big A to take on the Atlanta Hawks who are looking to right the ship as we come to the midpoint in the regular season. This will be their fourth and final meeting between the teams, with the Hawks taking the last two in convincing fashion.

Milwaukee sits in the 3rd seed in the East, only 2.5 games back of the Boston Celtics who sit atop with the 1 seed. They have been very up-and-down of late, but come off of an emphatic win in The Garden on Monday night after being down 17 points late in the 3rd quarter. All-star shooting-guard, Khris Middleton, will still be out in this one, but the Bucks are starting to get healthy at the right time as Jrue Holiday and others have recently been taken off of the injury report. They are 4-2 ATS in their last six games played. Can they make it 5-2 and go on the road in Atlanta and even up the season series between the two? If they are to go into the raucous ATL crowd and secure a big win, they will most likely need Giannis to improve on his 23 PPG that he has put up against the Hawks in his career.

Atlanta has been disappointing to say the least to start the year. They have lost 5 of their last 7 games, but have gained two great wins on the road against the surging Kings and Clippers in their last West Coast trip. They have not been able to find a consistent output from their big-time players in Trae Young, Dejounte Murray, John Collins, and De'Andre Hunter yet. In saying this though, Collins, Hunter, and Okongwu are three big bodies that have the best chance to slow down Antetokounmpo as much as any other team in the league can. They are 3-1 ATS as a home dog, so they have certainly played their best when quality opponents have come into their home building. Can they get a third win in four games to boost themselves into a top-8 seed in the Eastern Conference, where they had their eyes set on after they made the addition of Murray over the summer?

A few betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- Milwaukee is 7-11-1 ATS on the road this season

- The Bucks are 3-5-2 as an away favorite this year

- Atlanta is 3-1 ATS as a home underdog

This is a game where I like for Trae Young and Dejounte Murray to shine in front of the NBA world on ESPN. Every game is crucial on their home court as they fight to put their name back in the Playoff picture, and when the stakes are high on primetime TV, Trae Young always seems to put on a show. They have handled the Bucks well this season, and as I previously mentioned, have the big bodies needed to keep Giannis under control. This Hawks team is much better than the 19-21 record that they have put forward so far, and it is going to show tonight. Give me the Hawks ML at home.
