As we hit the middle of the week, lets head out to Madison Square Garden to take a better look at a matchup between the Miami Heat and New York Knicks in what can be a deciding Game 5.
Miami continues to stun the league and string together key wins in the Playoffs, now leading the Knicks 3-1 in the series after winning both games on their home floor in Games 3 and 4. If they are to win one of the next 3 games, they will become the first 8-seed in over 20 years to reach the Eastern Conference Finals. Although the Heat boast one of the more stout defenses in the league, the contributions that they are getting from players not named Butler or Adebayo is the main reason that they are finding so much success at this time. In Game 4, Max Strus and Kyle Lowry scored 31 points combined on a solid 10/19 shooting from the field. It feels as though a different player is stepping up each night though, and that is the exact thing that you need to succeed in the Playoffs. As the Heat head into MSG, can they shock the Knicks one more time and send the New York faithful home in disbelief on Wednesday night?

After the Knicks won Game 2, everyone expected them to at least go to Miami and steal 1 of the 2 to make it a 2-2 series before playing the next one on their home floor. Now that they have not done that, they have put themselves in a hole that seems hard to get out of with the offense that they are playing as of late. For sure, this series was always going to be played in the high 190's-low 200's, but the Knicks are simply not making the right plays down the stretch to give themselves a chance at taking a win away from this veteran Heat roster. With their backs against the wall coming into Wednesday's game, we shall see if they play tense, or if they play with no fear as they have nothing to lose now. Good teams always make the opposing team close things out on their home floor... so can the Knicks force the Heat to go back down south to have the opportunity to have the chance to punch their ticket to the ECF, or will they lie down and give it to Miami tonight?
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- New York was 44-34-4 ATS in the regular season
- The Knicks are 33-26-2 ATS in Conference games
- Miami is 18-30-3 ATS when coming off of a win
Even though the Heat proved all of their doubters wrong in the last series against the Milwaukee Bucks, and continue to do so now in this series, I fully expect the Knicks to show a great amount of fight tonight at their home arena to force the Heat into a Game 6. Roster for roster, I still believe the Knicks have the much more talented squad makeup, and I see that showing tonight as they put it all together. Give me Julius Randle to bounce back in a big way en route to a double digit win for the Knicks!
