Betting Odds: Celtics (-7) / Over/Under (203)
Pick: Heat (+7)
In what looked extremely unlikely a few nights ago, we now have a Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics, with this one being played in Boston's home arena.
Miami is one game away from blowing the first 3-0 lead in NBA history after it looked like they were going to walk their way into the NBA Finals for a date with the Denver Nuggets. After blowing Games 4 and 6 at home inside Kaseya Center, they will now be forced to go on the road into TD Garden if they are to prevail out of this grueling series. They will be big underdogs on Monday night, but this will surely not bother them as they have been underdogs in all of their series' so far in this Playoff run. If things are going to turn around for Miami though, Jimmy Butler is going to have to find his rhythm early and often in Game 7, as he was not able to do so in Game 6, shooting 5-21 from the field (3-17 inside the arc). Miami does not have the luxury to rely on another superstar to carry the load like the Celtics do, so time will tell if Butler can bring his squad into Boston and steal one away from the home crowd.

Boston has done the hard part by going on the road and securing two wins in Games 4 and 6. By doing so, they have put themselves in a great position to punch their ticket to the NBA Finals on their home floor in Game 7. It will not be gifted to them though, as the Heat will be raring to go to right there wrongs that have plagued them in the last few games in which they have not been able to string a full 48 minutes together. Looking at Game 6's box score, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combined for 57 points, 22 rebounds, and 8 assists. Nevertheless, if it were not for Derrick White, the Celtics would have been sent home a few nights back. His tip-in with 0.1 seconds left on the clock will go down in Boston Celtics history if they are able to complete this comeback and win the series. Moving forward to Game 7, the Celtics will need to compete on the defensive end once again if they are to come out on top. If they are able to keep the Heat around the 90-105 range, they will be in a solid position to take the win.
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- Miami is 11-6 ATS in Playoff games
- The Heat are 27-17 ATS when coming off of a loss
- The over is 29-19-1 when the Celtics are playing as a home favorite
If you would have told me two weeks ago that this series would turn out like this, I would have said you were lying. But, this is why we actually play the games and not just look at odds and percentages on who should win on paper, because there is much more to the game than just stats. This series has been a rollercoaster for both teams, with both squads winning three in a row back-to-back. Now, with a clean slate and one game to take it all, I will be siding with the Heat to keep this one close and to cover the line for us. Butler is due for a bounce back performance and what better tirme to showcase it than in a Game 7 in a raucous road crowd!
