Memphis Grizzlies (31-15) at Sacramento Kings (26-19)
Game Info: Monday, January 23, 2023 at 10:30 p.m. EST (Golden 1 Center)
Betting Odds: Grizzlies (-2) / Over/Under (243.5)
Pick: Kings (+2)
Tonight, we are going to get a pure offensive battle between two of the top 3 teams in the Western Conference, as the Grizzlies take on the Sacramento Kings inside of the Golden 1 Center.
Memphis will be raring to go in this game, coming off of 2 losses in a row by 3 points combined to the Lakers and Suns. With a 31-15 record, they will surely love their chances against a bottom-5 defense in the league that the Kings bring in. Superstar PG, Ja Morant, just seems to get better and better year after year. Every single night he is a walking highlight reel, just waiting to put his next opponent on SportsCenter's Top-10 list. He currently ranks top-10 in 2 major offensive categories with 27.2 PTS (10th) and 7.9 AST (6th). With the Kings not having a dominant rim defender, he should have success against them as he has in the past. On the flip side, they have not covered in any of their last 3 games as a big favorite, so they will need to bring everything they've got on a back-to-back in Sacramento.

Sacramento comes in off of a loss to the 76ers at home in which they led by 20+ in parts of the game. Still, they are 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games, so a small bump in the road won't bother them at all. Currently, they sit with the 2nd best offensive rating in the NBA, only slightly behind the Denver Nuggets. If you are a neutral fan hoping for a high-scoring game to watch at night, they are the team you want to get your eyes on. They are led by the underrated outstanding duo of De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, who both should be locks for the upcoming All-Star game. In Mike Brown's first year as Head Coach, he has put together a force in the West that is capable of scoring buckets with anyone in the league. They will look to revenge their loss to the Grizzlies that came a few weeks ago in Memphis as they try to inch closer to the 2 seed in the West.
A few betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- Sacramento is 19-6-1 ATS on 1 day of rest
- Memphis is 9-17-1 ATS in Conference games
- Sacramento is 14-8-1 ATS in Conference games
- The over has hit in 16 out of 25 games that the Kings have played at home
With this being their 3rd game in 4 days on the road, Memphis will be on tired legs coming into Sacramento. Although the Kings are a bad defensive team, I don't see this part of their game being exploited as much as if they were playing a fresher team away from home. Coming off of a disastrous collapse against the 76ers at home, Fox and others made several comments postgame about showing more effort on the defensive end. This will show in this match as the Kings will look to even up the season series against the Grizzlies. Give me the Kings to keep this one close all the way to the end.
