Tuesday night gives us an epic NL East divisional battle between the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies, with both squads looking to extend their win streak to seven games.
Atlanta has the best record in the NL right now with an impressive 46-26 record. They have not slowed down one bit as well, as they have now won six games in a row (eight out of their last ten). Looking at their lineup, it is truly difficult to find a hole 1-9. At the head of the snake Ronald Acuna Jr. runs the show. In his first 289 at-bats to begin the season off, he is batting .325, with 15 home runs, 45 RBIs, and 30 stolen bases. It is rare to find a player that can do everything on the baseball field, but he is in that unique category of players. Nonetheless, if the Braves are to go where they want to in the Postseason, they will need Spencer Strider to find his groove once again. After sitting below the 3.00 ERA mark for the entire campaign, he has allowed 13 runs over his last 9.0 innings pitched. Now, he goes into a ballpark where he does not have fond memories in from last Playoffs. Can he get revenge on the Phils on Tuesday night?

Philadelphia is another squad in the NL that is streaking at the moment, having won all six of their last games as well. A large reason for that is due to their much improved pitching. The Phillies have only let up 15 runs over their last 6 games, allowing their offense to tack on a few runs to secure the past few wins over the week. Additionally, June Kyle Schwarber is in complete effect right now, as he seems to have a home run in every win during this streak. If the Phillies can continue to get the output needed from their superstars like they did last season, keep an eye on them to make some noise as we head towards the midpoint in the season. On the bump for the Phils tonight will be left hander, Ranger Suarez. After a rocky start in his first few starts back from injury, he has found the rhythm that has made him one of the most underrated pitchers in the league. Over his last 4 starts (amounting 26.2 innings), he has only given up 3 earned runs. Can he silence the high-flying Braves in his home park tonight?
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- The Phillies are 4-1 as a home underdog
- Philadelphia is 19-11 as the home team
- The over is 26-16-3 when the Braves are coming off of a win
I completely understand that Strider is not the pitcher that we have seen on the field in his last few starts, but until he is able to right the ship, is he worthy of backing on the road against a pitcher and team who is on fire as a sizable favorite? I am not so sure of that at all. Give me the Phils as a dog inside Citizens Bank Park, in what is one of the most disrespectful lines I have seen all baseball season so far!
