As we take a break from March Madness for the week, let's focus our attention on the NBA as the regular season begins to close. Tonight brings us an Eastern Conference clash between two squads on either side of the spectrum when the Milwaukee Bucks head into Little Caesars Arena to face the Detroit Pistons.
Milwaukee is an impressive 53-21 on the season so far, but being only 1.5 games up on the Boston Celtics for the #1 seed in the East, every game is still vital to them. After coming off of a beating to the Denver Nuggets, where Nikola Jokic was able to outduel Giannis Antetokounmpo, they will be locked in as they fly into Detroit to right the ship. Over the last 10 days, they are 3-2 SU (2-3 ATS) and have looked quite lackluster at times against inferior opponents. With the Playoffs right around the corner, Head Coach Mike Budenholzer will like for his team to tighten it up on both ends of the court so they can be in top shape in April when the big dogs are in town. Additionally, Giannis is still fighting for the MVP award. Although he will not admit that he is focusing his attention on the award, it is impossible to not pay attention at least a bit to what is going on around the league when you are in the conversation for the illustrious award.

At times, Detroit seems like they have no plan on either side of the ball. Now having lost the last 5 games SU and ATS by at least 10 points in each game, they will be fearing that that streak will continue when the vaunted Bucks come into their arena. In saying that though, many of these guys are playing for contracts and their livelihood at this point in the season. With the Pistons so far out of the Playoff race for the majority of the season, they have been technically playing meaningless games all year long, so that mindset will not change a bit here. As Head Coach Dwane Casey tries to find any sort of positives to take into the offseason, he will hope that any of his young pieces can bloom in the last few weeks to have something to build on for next year. With the likes of Marvin Bagley III, Isaiah Livers, James Wiseman, and Jaden Ivey all playing huge minutes at the moment, time will tell if any of them can emerge from the pack.
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- The Bucks are 2-3 ATS over their last 5 games
- The under is 15-8 when the Bucks are playing away from home
- The under is 8-5 when the Pistons are playing division opponents
This can go either two ways... the Pistons lie down and show no fight as they have shown in the past, or they bring their best as the #1 seed comes into their home arena looking to dominate. Although times look utterly bleak for Detroit right now, 15.5 is an absurd number to cover on the road in the NBA, especially this late in the season when the Bucks focus may not be as sharp. Give me Detroit to keep this number within range all night long!
