Golden State Warriors (34-32) at Memphis Grizzlies (38-26)

Game Info: Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. EST (FedEx Forum)

Betting Odds: Warriors (-1.5) / Over/Under (236)

Pick: Grizzlies (+1.5)

In what should be another tantalizing battle between the two Western Conference squads, the Warriors will head into Memphis to take on the Grizzlies on Thursday night.

The Warriors just cannot figure out how to get it going on the road. After another sorry showing last time out against the Thunder in OKC, they have fallen to a 7-25 record on the road. Although the Grizzlies will be without Ja Morant and a few other mainstays in the lineup, at this point it feels as though it does not matter who is on the floor if the Dubs are playing away from home. If they are going to right their wrongs this time out, they will surely have to play some better ball on the defensive end as they have let up 250 combined points in the last two games. On top of struggling to prevent teams from putting the ball in the basket, they can not find a fluent bench rotation that gives them quality minutes consistently. With the cornerstone stars that they boast continuing to age year after year, Head Coach Steve Kerr will need to put together the right formula come Playoff time if they want any chance of repeating. Against a banged-up and drama-filled Grizzlies squad, can the Warriors finally find a winning recipe on the road?

If you have watched any form of sports media in the past week, you have seen what is going on with Ja Morant. I am not here to go into the suspension that he is currently under, but I will say that without him they are missing an MVP-caliber player. This has hugely shown in the last two games in which he has been sidelined, where the Grizzlies have fallen to the Lakers and Clippers in the same arena. If they are to fill the void that Morant has left, it is going to have to come through a complete team effort. The likes of Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Tyus Jones will need to elevate their game vastly in particular. Despite their star man is out, they have been lethal on their home floor, with a 26-5 record SU (19-11-1 ATS). They will need every bit of their crowd raring to go in this one as they welcome the Champions into FedEx Forum in hopes to prevent their squad from falling in a 0-3 hole in the season series versus Golden State.

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- Memphis is 2-0 ATS as a home underdog

- The Grizzlies are 19-11-1 ATS playing as the home squad

- Golden State is 7-25 SU away from home

We put our money on the Thunder last time out to secure a win against the Warriors and we are going to do it again here. Frankly, I do not trust Golden State at all at the moment if they are not playing in the Chase Center. Yes, Morant is out and that plays a big deal into the reason this line is where it is at, but I expect the crowd to create a Playoff atmosphere come tip-off time. Partnering this with the fact that Bane will not shoot 3-14 from the field two games in a row, I am backing the Grizzlies to eke out a win against the Warriors.
