In what can be a close to deciding Game 4, Monday night gives us a significant matchup between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers inside crypto.com Arena, with the Lakers looking to take the commanding 3-1 lead.
Golden State has carried over their abysmal road woes into the Playoffs, losing their first one away from home in Game 3 to the Lakers by a score of 127-97. Although Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson did not put together a solid showing, shooting 14-35 from the field, this series will not be won by the Warriors if they are to only get 5 points from Jordan Poole on a night to night basis. Even more, in his last 2 games, he has only scored 11 points combined on 5-15 shooting. For a player that averaged 20.4 PTS in the regular season off the bench and was implemented into the starting lineup at times when injuries came up, his recent form is not going to cut it. Flipping over to the defensive side of the ball, after coming out of the break, the Dubs let up a shocking 68 points in the 3rd and 4th quarters combined. They will need to sure up the gaps on that end of the court to stay within striking distance in this one.

Los Angeles was able to swing the pendulum in their favor in Game 3 by delivering one of the biggest losses to the Warriors in this legendary era that they are in. Anthony Davis played a big role in that 30-point win, scoring a team-high 25 points on 13 rebounds. I guess we should expect this out of him every other game now as the trend has continued of him seemingly taking a night off then going on an outburst the next one. More impressively, the Lakers only let up 67 points over the last 3 quarters, something that is certainly hard to do against a seasoned Warriors roster in the Postseason. In addition, even though for the first time in his NBA-record 275 Playoff appearances, Lebron James did not register a 1st quarter shot attempt, the Lakers were able to fight back after ending the opening frame down 7. Can L.A. hold serve on their home floor once again to send Golden State one foot out the door in the Playoffs?
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- L.A. is 6-3 ATS in Playoff games
- The Lakers are 12-5 ATS when playing on 2-3 days of rest
- Golden State is 20-28-1 ATS in games following a win
Finally I think it is time for LeBron James to get some revenge on this Warriors squad that has plagued him for large parts of his career. Golden State was one of the worst NBA teams on the road this year and I do not see a reason why that is going to change tonight even if we are in the Playoffs now. Because of that, I am going to hold my breathe and expect a rare back-to-back controlling performance from Anthony Davis as I feel the Warriors lack the bodies to be able to guard him in a lengthy series like this one. Give me L.A. by a few buckets!
