Pick: Texas (+7.5)

Let's dive back into another Tennessee game as we did a few days ago, as they take on the Texas Longhorns in a Big 12/SEC clash on Saturday night inside of Thompson-Boling Arena.

Texas has seen their Head Coach get fired in the middle of the season, but they have managed to block out all of the noise and stay hot. They have won 5 out of their last 6 games (3-3 ATS in that stretch), and have jumped back into the top-10 in doing so. Senior guard, Marcus Carr, runs the show for the Longhorns, and does it in epic fashion. He is averaging 17.6 PTS and 4.3 AST on the year, just recently coming off of a 21-point performance in which he shot an efficient 7-11 from the field and 2-2 from deep. Over the past few weeks, they have a few big wins including taking down Oklahoma State and West Virginia on the road, so they will be used to a rowdy crowd. In saying this though, Tennessee plays some of the best defense in the nation, so they will have to step up their game another notch if they want to secure one of the biggest wins of the CBB season to date.

Tennessee absolutely dismantled the Georgia Bulldogs at home a few nights ago. After UGA was able to stay in the game for the first 10 minutes of the game, the last 30 minutes played was all Tennessee's way. If they continue to play defense the way they are, and teams continue to miss the few open shots they get, Tennessee can play their way to a long run come March Madness time. Turn the page to the offense for the Vols, and they still have plenty of work to do. They are fairly turnover prone at times, which can cause them to go on lengthy slumps without scoring. Furthermore, they do not have a dominant scorer that can take over a game at any time, so if a night comes where their offense is cold, they will not have someone to bail them out as well as other top teams in the nation have. Having won 8 out of their last 9 games (6-3 ATS in that run), Tennessee will look to gain a massive resume-boosting win against a battle-tested veteran squad in the Longhorns.

A few betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- Tennessee is 1-2 ATS against ranked opponents

- The over has hit in 4 of 5 games that Texas has played against ranked opponents

- The over has hit in 12 of 16 games following a Texas win

- Texas is 2-0 ATS in their last 2 games played

Texas is simply too talented and poised to pass up this many points on them, even if it is on the road against one of the best defenses in the country. Tennessee has played great defense this year, but there are several metrics that show that teams are also just missing tons of open shots. Texas has prevailed on the road against several quality teams this year, and I like for it to continue here. Give me the Longhorns to play a nail-biter with the Vols in Knoxville.
