Monday's can be a dreadful day for most, but once you get home and turn this game on, you will certainly be in a better mood. Tonight, the Duke Blue Devils will head into the Watsco Center to take on the Miami Hurricanes in attempt to do something no one has done so far this year.
The Blue Devils came out on top against their historic foe in the North Carolina Tar Heels last game on Saturday night, winning by a score of 63-57. After the game sat tied 55-55 with 4 minutes to go, Duke was able to pull away on a 8-2 run to close the game out and secure one of their best wins of the season. They have shown several growing pains with new Head Coach Jon Scheyer in his first season, but with a 17-6 record, and a win on the road against the Hurricanes, it could put them right back into the picture for the ACC top seed. Although they are extremely young, starting 4 freshman almost every game, Jeremy Roach (Junior) has been a mainstay in the Duke organization for several years. In my eyes, he is one of the most underrated players in the country in the way he is able to keep his team composed in tough situations. If they are to secure a win on the road in The Magic City, he will surely have a big say in that.

Miami has not lost at home this so far this season, boasting an impressive 12-0 record (6-6 ATS in those games). Last time out, they used a big second half, in which they put up 43 points, to grab a win on the road against the Clemson Tigers. Star guard Nijel Pack was the key man in that game, putting up 20 points on 14 shot attempts. Their 3-headed trio in Isaiah Wong, Jordan Miller, and Pack have given teams nightmares in transition all year long. They are all capable of taking over a game at any moment, which makes it hard on coaches to hone in on one guy to attempt to stop. They have been stellar in Conference play with a 9-4 SU record (10-3 ATS), and would inch closer to the top spot in the ACC with a win here. Although this isn't a so called headline Duke squad currently, Jim Larrañaga will know just how dominant they can be at times, and will have his squad ready to defend their home court on Monday night.
A few betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- Duke is 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games played
- Miami is 10-3 ATS in Conference play
- The Hurricanes are 11-6 ATS coming off of a win
- The Blue Devils are 4-12 ATS after a win
This game should be close for large parts of the contest, but the Hurricanes pose too much of a threat in transition for the Blue Devils to stick with them down the stretch. Duke has been horrid coming off a win, and after beating the Tar Heels two nights ago, they will once again sputter in their following game. Miami looks unbeatable at home and it won't stop here. Give me the Hurricanes to gain another key win as they continue their impressive season in the Watsco Center.
