Betting Odds: Timberwolves -5.5 (-110) - Over/Under (207.5)
Pick: Timberwolves -5.5 (-110)
The Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves will play the second game of their Western Conference final series here on Friday night in Minneapolis. Much like the first game of the series this should be another back-and-forth competitive contest, as both teams look to grab a victory before taking the series to Dallas for the following two games. The Dallas Mavericks came out on top of the opening game of the series and now Minnesota will look to even up the series and at least be able to defend their home court once throughout the first two games. This will be a pivotal game number two here on Friday night with the winner taking all the momentum into Texas with them for the next couple of contests.
Dallas showed plenty of fight in the opening game of the series and despite being the underdogs coming into game one they were able to get the upset over Minnesota. Now they will look to replicate that performance in the second game, as they look to take a commanding two games to zero lead back home with them for game three and four of the series contest. This would be a monumental victory for the Dallas Mavericks, as it would allow them to sweep home court away from Minnesota for the time being and potentially stop the Timberwolves from going back home in this series altogether.
Luka DonÄić and Kyrie Irving put up fantastic performances throughout the first couple of games of the series and they will look to replicate those performances here on Friday night. Dallas was also successful in managing the damage that Anthony Edwards inflicted, which also helped them grab the victory in the opening game of the series. Although that will be unlikely for a second consecutive game, they will need to do their best to limit the damage once again if they want to grab another victory over the Timberwolves. If they can slow down Edwards for the second consecutive game, Dallas will have an opportunity to sweep the Timberwolves at home over the next two games.

Minnesota will be looking for a way to bounce back after dropping game one of this series at home against the Dallas Mavericks. This feels like a must win game for Minnesota, as they cannot afford to go down two games to zero against Dallas with the series heading back to Texas for the next two games. This will be another close competitive match up here on Friday night and will need Anthony Edwards to return to form if they want to be successful here in this one. He will need to leave for Minnesota once again like he has throughout the majority of the postseason so far.
He will be the X Factor throughout this series for Minnesota, and if he cannot continue to put up incredible performances, the Timberwolves may lose out on their opportunity to advance to the NBA finals. They will also need to find a way to slow down Luka DonÄić and Kyrie Irving if they want to be successful here on Friday night at home as they allowed both of the Dallas Mavericks superstars to wreak havoc throughout game one. Minnesota has been solid at the defensive end of the court throughout the postseason and they will need to find their defensive edge once again if they want to grab a victory here in game number two.
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- Minnesota is 30-13 as a home favorite
- Dallas is 9-14 as a road underdog
- Minnesota is 23-6 after a loss
I expect to see another close and competitive match up here on Friday night between the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves. In the end, I think we will see yet another game that goes down to the wire, but I also look for Minnesota to come out on top this time around. As I cannot see Minnesota falling behind 2 to 0 before heading back to Dallas. I look for Minnesota to control this game throughout the early stages and pull away towards the end with an incredible performance from Anthony Edwards.
