Game Info: Saturday, May 25th, 2024 at  9:38 p.m. EST (Angels Stadium)

Betting Odds: Cleveland -1.5 (+130) - Over/Under (7.5)

Pick: Cleveland -1.5 (+130)

The Cleveland Guardians and the Los Angeles Angels will play the second game of their three game weekend series here on Saturday night. In the opening game of the series it was all Guardians after the first few innings, as they used an offensive onslaught to grab yet another victory. Now they will look to officially clinch the series with a second consecutive victory against the Angels in the second game of the series here on Saturday night. A victory would also set up the potential for a sweep on Sunday. Meanwhile, Los Angeles will look to even up the series before heading in the third and final game on Sunday.

Cleveland has been one of the hottest teams in baseball over the past week and they will look to keep the momentum rolling with a eighth consecutive victory here on Saturday night. Cleveland is coming off of back to back three series sweeps against the New York Mets, and the Minnesota Twins and they will look to record a third consecutive sweep with another two victories over Los Angeles. Coming into the season Cleveland had a first year manager, and nobody would’ve expected them to be one of the best teams in baseball heading into the summer.

However, that is exactly what they’ve done as they currently have the best record in the league behind the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees.

Cleveland will look to grab their eleventh win in their last 12 games with another outstanding performance to follow up Friday night's game. Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor absolutely destroyed the baseball on Friday night with Ramirez homering twice within a couple of innings of each other. They will both look to replicate those performances throughout the second game of this series on Saturday night as they look to grab another series victory against the Angels and increase their lead on the American League Central division in the process.

It is fair to say that not many people had high expectations for Los Angeles this year after Shohei Ohtani traded in his Angels uniform for a crosstown rival, and joined the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, one thing that was a fatal blow to them early on in the season was losing Mike Trout for the remainder of the year. That is something that has been really hard for them to recover from, and despite the relative weakness of the American League West division so far this season, Los Angeles still finds themselves well out of playoff contention at the moment. The season feels like it’s practically flying by in Los Angeles does not have much time to get their act together if they want to somehow put themselves in a position to make the postseason.

Soriano will grab the ball for them in this one, as he looks to improve on his 2-4 record against the new young ace for Cleveland, Tanner Bibee, who is sporting a 2-1 mark. This feels like a must win game for Los Angeles as they look to avoid losing this series before getting to the final game on Sunday. Soriano will need to shut down a Guardians lineup that has been one of the hottest in the league this season. That will certainly be no easy task for him on Saturday night, meanwhile Bibee will look to continue the solid run of starts by Cleveland pitching, as he searches for his third victory of the young season.

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- Cleveland is 9-1 in their last 10

- Cleveland has covered -1.5 in 26 of 34 wins

- Cleveland is 3-1 against the Angels this season

I expect a similar outcome as we saw on Friday night as I look for Cleveland to grab a second consecutive victory in this series. Not only do I look for Cleveland to pick up a win. I look for them to grab another multi run win against Los Angeles to grab their eighth consecutive victory in a row in the process. Their bats are just way too hot at the moment, and their pitching is dominating the opposing lineups that they face, and I cannot see that changing against an Angels team that has no momentum coming into this game.
