Betting Odds: Guardians ML (-120) - Over/Under (9.5)

Pick: Guardians ML (-120)

For the second night in a row, Cleveland and Kansas City will meet in the second game of this four game weekend series at Kauffman Stadium. It was a rather low scoring series opener on Thursday night as Cleveland and Kansas City, combined for a total of three runs in what ended up being a one run victory for the Kansas City Royals. Now both teams will look to pick up a crucial victory here in game number two on Friday night. Cleveland looks even up the series before the final two games over the weekend, and Kansas City looks to clinch at least a share of the series with a second consecutive victory here at home.

After a sluggish start to the series, Cleveland will look to rebound here in game number two on Friday as Triston McKenzie gets the baseball coming off of one of his worst starts of the season last week. He will look to string together a successful outing in this game as Cleveland looks to pick up a much-needed victory over the Kansas City Royals. He has struggled with command issues throughout the early part of the regular season. That is something he will need to figure out heading into the back half of the season if he wants to remain as successful and important part of this team down the final stretch run.

After only managing to put one run on the board of the game yesterday, that is something Cleveland will look to change throughout game two here in this one. They have been one of the most explosive offense, all of baseball throughout the early part of the year and it is unlike them to put up a minimal amount of runs two games in a row. Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor will look to be more effective throughout this game as Cleveland looks to string together a much-needed victory over Kansas City to even up the season series and even this series heading into the final two games over the weekend.

The Kansas City Royals have been one of the biggest surprises of the baseball season. They are hanging around third place in the American League Central division, and they look to crawl their way back into the top two spots with a successful weekend against Cleveland. They are coming off of an important victory in the opening game of the series, and they will look to follow up with a second consecutive victory here on Friday night at home.

This is a team that has been stuck in a rebuilding cycle ever since they lifted the World Series trophy around a decade ago and they finally looked to get back to their winning ways with a winning season this year. So far so good for Kansas City and they will look to capitalize on that with a successful stretch run throughout the summer. Alec Marsh will get the start for the Royals in game two on Friday night and he comes into this game sitting right at .500 on the season. He has an ERA above four and he will look to pick up his sixth victory of the year here in this one as he looks to gain some control over his season and wash away some of the struggles he has experienced throughout the first couple months of the year.

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- Cleveland is 25-19 on the road

- Cleveland is 23-13 against teams above .500

- Kansas City is 18-23 against teams above .500

I expect a similar game out of this one in the second game of this four game weekend series like we saw in the opener on Thursday night. However, this time I am expecting a different result, as I look for Cleveland to even up this series with what feels like a must win victory if they want to maintain the momentum that they came in with. Cleveland looked rather sluggish throughout their loss on Thursday night to Kansas City, and that is not something I can not see happening for a second night in a row. As I look for the Guardians to bounce back here in this one and even up the series before heading into game three on Saturday.
