Betting Odds: Celtics -13.5 (-110) - Over/Under (211.5)

Pick: Celtics -13.5 (-110)

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics will play the second game of their second round postseason series here on Thursday night at TD Garden in Boston. In the opening game of the series, it was close and competitive throughout the early stages of the contest, but eventually the Boston Celtics pulled away for a respectable victory over Cleveland in game one. Now they will replicate that performance in the second game of the series while the Cleveland Cavaliers will look to grab their first win of the postseason on the road and head back to Cleveland with this series not up at one victory apiece.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will have a lot of searching to do after they were blown out in the opening game of this series and there was plenty of work to be done if they want to remain competitive in game number two as well. They looked absolutely lost out there at times on both ends of the court as they were unable to defend anybody on defense and they were missing shots back on the offensive end. That is not a mistake they can afford to make for a second time. Otherwise they will be heading back home still in search of their first postseason victory on the road this season and it will leave them in a massive hole against a tough Boston Celtics team.

Somebody besides Donovan Mitchell will once again have to step up for the Cleveland Cavaliers if they want to have a chance at defeating the Boston Celtics on their home floor. One thing that has certainly been hurting Cleveland over the past couple of weeks is the absence of Jarett Allen as he is still dealing with a rib injury that has kept him sideline for the majority of the postseason. If he was able to return to the lineup before this series heads back to Cleveland, it would be a massive advantage for the Cavaliers, although that seems really unlikely at the moment. Cleveland will have to find a way to get the job done and Jaylen Brown, Jason Tatum, and Derrick White one of their best defenders on the court.

The Boston Celtics looked incredible in the opening game of this series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and they will look to replicate that performance for the second consecutive game in a row here on Thursday night. If they can continue their dominant ways in this series, this is a series that will likely end by the time they go to Cleveland for the second game in about a week or so. Boston has looked incredible throughout the opening round of the postseason so far and they looked to maintain that momentum for the second game in a row against Cleveland.

It seemed like at times throughout the opening game of this series. The Boston Celtics could not miss and they continued to put the ball in the basket at an efficient rate, especially from behind the three-point line. That allowed Boston to pull away in game one of the series, despite all the best effort from Donovan Mitchell. They will be hoping that Derrick White can put up a similar performance and if he can replicate his series opening performance, Boston should cruise to a second consecutive comfortable victory against Cleveland here on Thursday.

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- Boston is 37-4 at home

- Cleveland is 0-4 on the road in the playoffs

- Boston is 40-5 as a home favorite

I expect Boston to grab a second consecutive solid victory in this series on Thursday night at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers. As I look for the Boston Celtics' efficient shooting from the field to continue throughout this game and I look for it to hurt Cleveland in the second half especially. I look for Boston to start to pull away midway through the third quarter and not look back and I looked for them to cover the spread in the process as well here on Thursday night.
