Tonight we will see a primetime matchup between two Eastern Conference teams that could certainly be a Playoff series in a few months when the Cleveland Cavaliers head into Philly to face off against the 76ers.
Cleveland is streaking as of late. They are currently on a 7-game win streak, which they have managed to cover in 6 of those 7 as well. Donovan Mitchell has slotted into his role on this team tremendously... even better than I expected. Last time out, he put up 41 points, drilling 6 three-pointers in the process. The Cavs were a promising team before the trade, but after his arrival, he has immediately turned them into a serious contender in the East. When you add Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Darius Garland to the mix, you can see why this team is 16 games over .500 with over 20 games to play. Despite all of the positives though, they have mightily struggled on the road, coming in with a 13-16 away record. If they want to extend their win streak to 8 games, they are going to have to find the right recipe away from home in this one.

Philadelphia comes into this clash on a winning streak as well, albeit only a 3 game one. We all know how well of a season Joel Embiid is having, but I feel as though James Harden is the key to the 76ers' season as we head into Playoff time. Embiid is an extraordinary talent in himself, but he will need all the help he can get from Harden when he is getting double-teamed from the jump in mid-April. If he can turn back the clock to his Rockets days and carry this team in stretches during the Playoffs, Philadelphia will be a tough out for any team in the East. They will benefit against a tough opponent in being home here, as they display a 22-8 home record. This game will be a good barometer of where they are currently at on the year and will give Doc Rivers much to take away as they have a great possibility of seeing this team in an extended Playoff series later in the year.
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- The 76ers are 9-4 ATS over their last 13 games
- Philadelphia is 19-10-1 ATS as the home team
- Cleveland is 3-7 ATS as an away underdog
Cleveland has been marvelous over the past 2 weeks, but on primetime TV at home, Philly will be ready to end their 7 game-win streaks in fashion in the Wells Fargo Center. I can not pinpoint one reason why the Cavaliers are below average on the road, but until something changes in that area of their game, I do not trust them away from home against a great team. Give me the 76ers to secure a crucial win by a few baskets, as they inch closer to the top seed in the East.
