Betting Odds: Orioles (-135) / Over/Under (10)

Pick: Over 10 (-110)

The start of the week brings us an enticing series between the Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Orioles, with both squads looking to stay on pace for their aspirations towards the end of the season.

After stringing off a week and a half straight of winning baseball, the Reds dropped the last two games to the Atlanta Braves, dropping them to 41-37. Nonetheless, they are still in first place in the NL Central division, and will come into this series with the utmost confidence to get back on the right track against a poor pitcher that the Orioles will be throwing out there. With the NL Central being so close at the moment, games like this one will be crucial to the Reds chances at making a push for the Playoffs if they are able to do so. On the mound for tonight’s game, they will have rookie left hander Brandon Williamson. Through his first seven starts on the year, he has looked shaky at times, coming in with a 5.40 ERA. Can the southpaw settle it down on Monday night or will the O’s bats exploit his inexperience?

Baltimore has truly been one of the surprises of the MLB regular season up until this point as they boast a stellar 47-29 record. Even though they are still 4.5 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays, who have played otherworldly this season, they are primed for a Wild Card spot if they can stay on their current form. A big part of their success this campaign has been due to a plethora of players having career years, but the man I will focus my attention on today is their closer. Felix Bautista is a pure flamethrower out of the bullpen in the ninth inning. Through his first 35 appearances this season, he has amounted a mere 1.23 ERA. As we look around the league, I am not sure that I can pinpoint another player that I would choose to come out of the pen in a one run game to close it out for me other than Bautista. Can Bautista deliver once again if he is given the opportunity on Monday night against the Reds?

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- The over is 36-24 when the Reds have been the underdog

- The over is 33-22 when the Reds have played non-Division opponents

- The over is 4-1 in the last 5 games for the Orioles

Looking at the two starting pitchers for this game, I find it extremely hard to believe that this number won’t go over. Apart from Williamson being inexperienced, Cole Irvin has been flat out abysmal for the Orioles. Give me the over in Camden Yards to cash with ease!
