Christmas Eve Free Picks

Santa came a day early this year, so we are going to be looking at three picks today rather than one.

New Orleans Saints (5-9) at Cleveland Browns (6-8)

Game Info: Saturday, December 24, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. EST (FirstEnergy Stadium)

Betting Odds: Browns (-3) / Over/Under (32)

First off, we are going to take a dive into a rough matchup in the Midwest where the New Orleans Saints travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns. This is a must win for both teams so it should be a compelling matchup. According to the weather reports, it seems as though this one is going to be played in freezing cold temperatures, with the potential of snow storms throughout, so don’t be surprised if we see a low-scoring game. After a historic collapse against the Bucs in primetime the prior week, the Saints managed to right the ship against the Atlanta Falcons last week, keeping their chances alive in the abysmal NFC South. This time has been hard to read all year, but oddly enough, the underdog in this matchup has gone 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings played against each other. Cleveland will love the weather forecast for this one, as they will rely on their bell cow back, Nick Chubb to carry the load in the wintery weather. They too, are on the outside looking in in the playoff race, but a win and some help from a few other teams could give them a fighters chance in the last two games of the season to squeak in the playoffs. After winning and covering last week against the Baltimore Ravens at home, one specific stat shows that this game may not bode well for them. They are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games played following a win ATS the prior week. The total is set in the low 30’s, indicating that this could be a very low scoring matchup for obvious reasons. Because of this and the fact that I believe they are a more complete team, I’ll take a chance with the Saints and the points on the road to keep this one close, and maybe steal one as an early Christmas gift for their fans.

Pick: Saints (+3)

Seattle Seahawks (7-7) at Kansas City Chiefs (11-3)

Game Info: Saturday, December 24, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. EST (Arrowhead Stadium)

Betting Odds: Chiefs (-10) / Over/Under (49.5)

For our second pick, we are going to look in the Red Kingdom, and take a dive into the Seattle Seahawks versus Kansas City Chiefs game. Seattle comes into this game with the wheels looking like they’re falling off on their once promising season. They have not covered in their last 5 games and have lost outright in 4/5 of them (two of them at home to the Panthers and Raiders). What once was a 6-3 start to the season has turned into a mediocre 7-7 team who looks completely lost on the defensive side of the ball recently. They will look to hopefully keep this close as long as they can and avoid going below the .500 mark for the first time since early October. On the other side, the Chiefs, have been the Chiefs. Although they survived a scare last week to the Texans on the road in overtime, they have won 7/8 games outright and look all the part of a Super Bowl team once again. I am going to keep this one short and sweet, I think the Chiefs get on the Seahawks early and often and have this one over at halftime, allowing for Mahomes and Co. to get their Christmas celebrations started early.

Pick: Chiefs (-10)

Washington Commanders (7-6-1) at San Francisco 49ers (10-4)

Game Info: Saturday, December 24, 2022 at 4:05 p.m. EST (Levi’s Stadium)

Betting Odds: 49ers (-6.5) / Over/Under (37.5)

Last but not least, we are going to be travelling all the way to San Fran to take a better look at the Commanders vs. 49ers matchup. The 49ers fly into this one feeling great about themselves on a 7-game win streak in which they have covered the spread in 6/7 of those games and are 6-1 at Levi’s Stadium (5-2 ATS) throughout the year. The mid-season addition of Christian McCaffrey has completely turned their season around and has made them one of the favorites to come out of the NFC because of it. The Commanders have been on a rollercoaster all season, whether it be the changing of quarterbacks, injuries, or Ron Rivera pointing out their lack of good QB play in front of the media, they have been a mess all season. They come off of a crushing loss at home to their division foes, the New York Giants, that severely dips their chances of making it to the playoffs. But, there is still all to play for them as they still control their own destiny if they can win out. Despite the unpredictability of this team, they are 6-2-1 ATS over their last 9 games and are one of those teams that just doesn’t go away. This game opened around the 6 point mark in favor of San Francisco and has since bounced around the 6-7 mark for the past few days until today where it has sat at 6.5. The public is all over the 49ers, but I like the other side in this one. I think the Commanders keep this one closer than expected to most, give me the points.

Pick: Commanders (+6.5)

Let’s hope these plays can get the Christmas season started in the right way! Have a Merry Christmas Eve and Happy Holidays!
