The Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Guardians will play the third and final game of a four game series here on Thursday afternoon. This is already been a bit of a back-and-forth series throughout the first two games with both teams picking up a victory and both teams looking to clinch a series win here on Thursday to wrap up the series. Chicago has gotten the better of Cleveland throughout the regular season winning four out of the first six meetings, including the game on Wednesday night. Despite being the worst team in baseball after a rough start to the regular season, they have still been able to beat up on the Guardians who have been one of the best teams in baseball coming into the month of July. Cleveland will look to get back on track after another rough performance against an American League Central division team. Despite having one of the best records in all of baseball throughout the first few months of the season, they have struggled against their own division, losing nine out of 21 games. On the surface, it does not seem like much but when you consider the fact that five of those losses are to the Chicago White Sox team, then it gets a little bit embarrassing to admit. This has been the worst team so far this season, but Cleveland cannot figure out a way to get an advantage against them. That is certainly something Cleveland will need to figure out throughout the remainder of the season if they want to maintain one of the best records in baseball.
Gavin Williams made his MLB season debut on Wednesday night, but it did not go well as he was roughed up early in his return from injury. Ben Lively will get the ball here on Thursday afternoon for Cleveland and he is coming off of a rough start of his own last week against Kansas City. He will bounce back and put up a performance against the Chicago White Sox, as Cleveland looks to get a victory to finish off this series at home. They have been one of the best teams at home in baseball this season and they will look to maintain that narrative with a solid performance here in this one to wrap up this series.
