The Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Guardians will open up a three game series here on Tuesday night in Cleveland. These are two teams that have had very different seasons. Throughout the first couple months of the year, Chicago has been one of the worst teams in baseball and meanwhile, Cleveland has been one of the best teams in baseball heading into the summer. Prior to the season starting both of these teams had very different expectations and many people thought this would’ve been a different situation with Chicago being the top team in the division and Cleveland being in the middle of the pack.
It has been a disastrous season for the Chicago White Sox and things will likely not get much better for them throughout the second half of the year. All signs point towards them trading off a majority of their players at the upcoming trade deadline with stars like Luis Robert expected to be dealt elsewhere to a contending team. This has been one of the worst Chicago White Sox teams in recent memory, and unless they make major changes throughout the rest of this season in the off-season, it could be a long stretch of uncompetitive baseball from Chicago.
They come into this game with 62 losses through their first 86 games of the season and they are well behind the rest of the American League Central division coming into the month of July. They will come into this game, looking to build some type of momentum and take advantage of a struggling Cleveland team as they look to somewhat turn their fortunes around. Cleveland has been one of the best teams in baseball coming into the second month of the summer, but they have been struggling as of late after dropping three out of four to the Kansas City Royals over the weekend. Cleveland will return home and look to resume their solid play that has made them the best team of Major League Baseball when playing at home this season. Although they have struggled a little bit against the American League Central division throughout the early part of the year and have already lost a series to Chicago as well, they are still holding a respectable lead within the division. Cleveland will look to further extend that lead with a solid performance throughout this week as they kick off another homestand and look to improve upon one of the best records in all of baseball this season.
Carlos Carrasco makes the start for Cleveland in this game on Tuesday night and although he has had some struggles throughout the year, his last start was one of the best of the year for him and he will look to tap into that, and replicate that performance. It would be a much needed victory for a Cleveland team that is coming off of a less than stellar performance over the weekend on the road in Kansas City. They will need to get the bats going against Chris Flexen, who starts in this one for Chicago. He comes into this game with a 2-7 record on the season, which gives guys like Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor plenty of opportunities to get the job done in this game.

As I look for Carlos Carrasco to pitch a solid and respectable outing throughout this game and for the Guardians offense to light up the scoreboard against a struggling White Sox pitching staff to lead them to the win.
