Sunday afternoon gives us an inter-league game between the Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates, with both teams looking to secure a series win.
When healthy, the White Sox have one of the best offenses in the league. It all starts with Tim Anderson though, as the superstar shortstop is the key to their success at the top of the lineup. So far this year, he has not been able to hit for power but is still batting .350 with five stolen bases. He is an absolute menace on the field and it shows night in and night out with his flashy plays all over the diamond. In Sunday's rubber match, Chicago will throw out Michael Kopech on the mound to duel against the promising Pirates lineup. Last year was his first full season in the MLB starting every fifth day and he was able to handle it extremely well, finishing with a 3.54 ERA. Although he got battered around in his first start in this campaign, the White Sox will rely on him to right the ship here and for the rest of the season in a big way.

Pittsburgh has begun the year much better than we all expected them to, coming into this one with a 5-3 record. It seems as though bringing Andrew McCutchen back has ignited a fire in this roster and fanbase which has brought the best out of this bunch in the early parts of this season. He was able to turn back the clock in yesterday's loss, going 3/4 with two RBIs, two runs, and a stolen base. For sure, we can not expect him to put together an MVP-like season as he put together ages ago, but with the talented hitters around him, he can have a solid year in the meat of the Pirates lineup if he can stay healthy. On Sunday, the Pirates will place Johan Oviedo on the bump. He struggled mightily in his opening start of the year, letting up 3 home runs. Likewise, with Kopech for the White Sox, the Pirates will need Ovideo to be much sharper here if they want to come away with a series win.
Both starting pitchers struggled immensely in their first outings of the year. Although Kopech is a quality pitcher and should be able to turn things around as the year progresses, I did not like what I saw from him five days ago against the Giants. He let up a whopping five home runs and was not able to locate his fastball at all. I do not see that being fixed in one game. In regards to Oviedo, he will have a tough time keeping this White Sox lineup down, who has scored 20 runs in their last two games. Give me the over to cash with ease!
