Pick: Bears -3.5 (-105)

Week number 10 of the NFL season kicks off here on Thursday night in Chicago as the Carolina Panthers head north to play the Chicago Bears in what could end up being one of the worst primetime games of the season. Both these teams are having some struggles this season as Carolina has been one of the worst teams in the league and Chicago has been without starting quarterback Justin Fields for several weeks at this point, which has severely hindered their ability to pick up victories. Despite it only being the beginning of the second half of the regular season, both of these teams seem to be well out of playoff contention at this point, and both of them will be playing for pride and draft positioning throughout the remainder of the regular season.

It’s been a very rough season for the Carolina Panthers and as of right now it looks like they may have missed on number one overall pick Bryce Young. He has missed time at certain points throughout the regular season and he has not looked all that great when he has been on the football field and they will be hoping he can turn things around during the second half of the season otherwise they may be looking for another option at quarterback next year’s NFL draft. They come into this game with one victory through their first eight games of the season and they will be looking to pick up their second victory of the season here in this one on Thursday night against the Chicago Bears.

Carolina traded away number one wide receiver DJ Moore over the off-season to the Chicago Bears and it has shown with their play on the football field as they lack a massive playmaker who can get the job done and get the ball into the endzone from anywhere on the field. They will be looking for their second victory of the season here in this on Thursday night and week number 10 of the year. However, in a weird way, it might benefit Carolina to continue losing because as of right now, they have two of the top three draft picks and next NFL draft because they do possess the Chicago Bears first round pick from the DJ Moore trade.

The Chicago Bears aren’t having the best season either but they looked like they were getting things on track until quarterback Justin Fields injured his wrist several weeks ago. They come into this game looking to pick up their third victory of the season here on Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers, as they look to salvage any hope of a potential playoff appearance with a massive winning streak starting in the second half of the season. Chicago wide receiver DJ Moore will likely be the focal point of this game as he is playing his former team for the first time since they traded him to Chicago over the off-season and he will be looking to put up solid numbers and show the Carolina Panthers why they made a mistake getting rid of him.

Chicago has shown progress at times throughout the regular season but with a young starting quarterback, taking over for Justin Fields because of the injury and with Fields still not ready to go, it could end up being a long second half of the season for the Chicago Bears. They will be looking to grab a solid victory here at home on Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers, as Chicago looks to pick up their third victory of the season here on Thursday night and week number 10 of the year. Chicago comes into this game after two consecutive losses away from home and they will be hoping that being back in front of their home fans can get them back into the win column as they look to bounce back from losing three out of their last four games on the season. As they look to recover from this skid, that started when Fields went down with an injury.

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- Carolina is 0-4 on the road this season

- Carolina is 1-5 after a loss this season

- Carolina is 1-7 as an underdog this season

I expect this to be a low scoring game between two pretty lackluster offenses here on Thursday night to open up the second half of the NFL regular season. In the end, I think it’ll be the Chicago Bears that pull out the victory in a pretty sloppy game against the Carolina Panthers here on Thursday night in primetime. I look for Chicago to find a way to make enough players to grab a victory in this game and pick up their third victory of the season here on Thursday night at home against the Carolina Panthers.
