Game Info: Monday, May 13th, 2024 at  7 p.m. EST (Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse)

Betting Odds: Celtics -8.5 (-110) - Over/Under (206.5)

Pick: Celtics -8.5 (-110)

The Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers will play the fourth game of their second round postseason series here on Monday night at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland. In the third game of the series, it was close and competitive throughout the early stages of the contest, but eventually the Boston Celtics pulled away from the Cleveland Cavaliers to steal a game on the road. It was a great way for Boston to return the favor after Cleveland gave them a similar type of thrashing on the road at TD Garden in the second game of the series. Now both teams will look to add another victory to their record in this pivotal game on Monday night to get one step closer to competing for an NBA championship this season.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown stepped up to deliver incredible games throughout Saturday night's contest in Cleveland. Now, both of the superstars for the Boston Celtics will look to replicate those performances during the second game in Cleveland here on Monday night as the Celtics look to take a commanding three games to one lead over the Cavaliers. Another victory here on Monday night would give them a massive momentum boost and put Cleveland on the brink of elimination back in Boston for Game five later this week. That is exactly what Boston needs as they look to win their second consecutive series and only five games and move on to the Eastern Conference Finals against either the New York Knicks or the Indiana Pacers.

Boston has been able to get the advantage on Cleveland throughout the early part of games and something they excel out in both game one and game three was pulling away in the third quarter. That is something they will look to do for the second consecutive game in a row here on Monday night as they put Cleveland on the brink of elimination and head back home with a massive advantage in the series. If they continue to shoot the basketball like they did in the third game of the series, then should have no problem jumping out to another huge lead in this game on Monday and picking up a second consecutive victory in the process. Cleveland has been unable to go bucket for bucket with the Celtics at times and that has been Boston’s massive advantage throughout the first three games of this series despite the loss.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will look to bounce back after a less than impressive performance in their first game at home of this series. After an upset victory in the second game of the series on the road in Boston, Cleveland was unable to capitalize that momentum and they went cold in the second half of the game on Saturday night at home. That is a problem they will need to solve in game number four on Monday night if they want to remain competitive against the Boston Celtics and go back to Boston while regaining the momentum. If Cleveland can manage to pull off another upset victory over the Boston Celtics this time at home, it would give them a great opportunity to go, steal another victory on the road in Boston and take firm control of this series.

If Cleveland wants to be successful here on Monday night against Boston, somebody other than Donovan Mitchell will need to step up and produce for the Cavaliers. Darius Garland has been very inconsistent throughout this series, and although Evan Mobley is showing signs of growth that has not been enough as they continue to miss Jaret Allen in the middle of the paint. At this point, it seems unlikely that he will be ready to go on Monday night after missing several games, while dealing with a severe ribbon injury that he suffered in the first series against the Orlando Magic. Even without Jaret Allen is a Cleveland team that is capable of grabbing victory here at home to make all of their shots and they cannot allow Tatum and Brown to take the game over.

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- Boston is 29-12 as road favorite

- Boston is 53-16 after a win

- Cleveland is 3-6 as a home underdog

Unfortunately, for the Cleveland Cavaliers, despite them being at home, I look for a similar result as we saw in game three. As I look for the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers to have a competitive first half year on Monday night in Cleveland, but in the end, I look for Boston to pull away once again in the third quarter to grab another commanding victory. Not only do I look for the Boston Celtics to grab their victory of this series. I also look for them to cover the spread for the second game in a row against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
