Game Info: Saturday, May 11th, 2024 at  8:30 p.m. EST (Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse)

Betting Odds: Celtics -7.5 (-110) - Over/Under (211.5)

Pick: Celtics -7.5 (-110)

The Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers will play the third game of their second round postseason series here on Saturday night at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland. In the second game of the series, it was close and competitive throughout the early stages of the contest, but eventually the Cleveland Cavaliers pulled away from the Boston Celtics to steal a game on the road. It was an incredible victory for Cleveland as they dominated the second game of the series and shot the basketball much better which led to their win. Now Cleveland has all the momentum coming into this game at home here on Saturday night and they will look to take a second consecutive game in the series. Meanwhile, Boston will look to return the favor and steal a game on the road here in game three.

The Boston Celtics were certainly caught off guard when Cleveland unleashed a fury on them throughout the late stages of the second game of the series back in Boston on Thursday. Now they will look to regroup and grab a victory in the first game of the series on the road in Cleveland, as they look to regain the momentum and what should be a massive showdown here on Saturday evening. They say a series never really starts until a team loses at home and that has now happened to Boston twice, meanwhile for Cleveland they were finally able to pick up a victory on the road in the postseason.

The Boston Celtics will return the favor and steal the cord advantage from the Cavaliers to take a two games to one lead over Cleveland before heading into game four later this week. Boston certainly has all the tools necessary to get the job done here in Cleveland on Saturday night like they did in the regular season, but they will have to execute much better and shoot the basketball at a more efficient rate. Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown put up respectable numbers, but Derrick White was pretty much ineffective if you compare it to his game, one performance where he was unstoppable. That is a form he will need to regain here on Saturday night if Boston wants to be successful on the road in Cleveland.

The Cleveland Cavaliers used a barrage of buckets to overcome the Boston Celtics in the second game of this series on Thursday. Now they will certainly need to replicate that performance here on Saturday if they want to take an even bigger advantage in this series and take more momentum away from the heavily favored Celtics in the process. Donovan Mitchell and Caris Levert put up solid numbers throughout the second game of the series at TD Garden and Evan Mobley had a breakout game on the offensive end of the court, which is something that could become a norm for this team.

If Evan Mobley continues to play like he did on Thursday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers may transform into NBA championship favorites by the time this series comes to an end. Even without Jaret Allen in the lineup, Cleveland was able to dominate Boston on both ends of the court late in the game and if they get him back anytime throughout this series, then Cleveland will have an even bigger advantage over the Celtics. They will need all three of those players to replicate their game number two performances if Cleveland wants to grab a second consecutive win over a tough Boston team here on Saturday night at home.

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- Boston is 28-12 as a road favorite

- Boston is 15-4 after a loss

- Cleveland is 3-5 as home underdog

I expect this to be another close and competitive match up here on Saturday night, but in the end, I do look for the Boston Celtics to get back on track and pick up the victory against Cleveland. As I look for this game to be close throughout the majority of the contest, but I look for Boston to pull away towards the end of the game like both teams have in the opening two games of the series. Not only do I look for the Boston Celtics to grab the victory here on Saturday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but I also look for Boston to cover the spread in the process.
