Betting Odds: Orioles ML (+110) - Over/Under (9.5)
Pick: Orioles ML (+110)
Monday night takes us to Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, where the Baltimore Orioles come into the city of brotherly love to open up a three-game interleague series. Both of these teams are trending in opposite directions right now and it will be interesting to see who comes out of this series on top by the time the finale comes around on Wednesday.
Baltimore is coming off of a successful weekend where they took three out of four games from Tampa Bay on the road at Tropicana Field. Now their road trip will continue as they head north to Philadelphia and they will be looking to use the momentum again from this weekend to pick up another series victory. The Orioles currently sit in first place in the American League East division after their impressive performance over the weekend against Tampa Bay. They have one of the best records in baseball and they come into this game as one of the hottest teams in the league as well. As they are currently on a two-game winning streak and have picked up seven victories in their last 10 games of the season.
Dean Kremer will be on the mound for Baltimore in the opening game of the series and he is having a solid season up until this point of the year. He got started early with his tremendous performance in the world baseball classic before the regular season started and he picked up right where he left off throughout the year. He has already picked up double-digit victories this year and he will be looking to pick up his 11th victory of the season here on Monday evening against the Philadelphia Phillies on the road. Baltimore has picked up a victory in three out of their last four series openers so, despite being the underdog in this game, momentum would have them being the favorite here on Monday night.

The Philadelphia Phillies will be looking to bounce back after they salvaged some momentum in the finale of their series against Cleveland on Sunday afternoon. Philadelphia came into this season with a ton of expectations after they made a run to the World Series last year before falling to the Houston Astros. However, this season hasn’t gone quite how they would’ve expected it to, especially after the performance that Trea Turner had in the world baseball classic before the season started. After the way he performed for Team USA a lot of people thought he would be a potential MVP winner in the Phillies would be one of the best teams in the National League. Unfortunately for Turner and Philadelphia that just hasn’t been the case but they will be looking to turn things around in the opening game of the series on Monday.
Philadelphia is currently in second place of the National League East division but they have a long way to go if they want to catch the Atlanta Braves and compete for a division title. They are only seven games above .500 with a record of 53-46 through their first 99 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They also sit right outside of the third wildcard spot in the National League as they will have to work to get themselves back into playoff contention as the season comes down the final stretch. Christopher Sanchez is expected to be on the mound for Philadelphia in this game and he has yet to pick up a victory this season, but he does have three losses on his record, and he will be looking to break that losing streak here on Monday.
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- Baltimore is 50-32 without a day of rest this season
- Baltimore is 36-24 after a win this season
- Baltimore is 19-14 as a road underdog this season
With Dean Kremer taking the mound for the Baltimore Orioles here on Monday night they have the advantage in the pitching matchup, and I expect them to exploit that advantage. As I look for the Baltimore Orioles to extend their winning streak to three games and pick up a comfortable victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on the road on Monday night to open up this three-game interleague series.
