Betting Odds: Orioles ML (-120) - Over/Under (9.5)

Pick: Orioles ML (-120)

The Atlanta Braves and the Baltimore Orioles will finish their series here on Thursday afternoon. Both of these teams came into the 2024 Major League Baseball season with high expectations of winning their respective East divisions. However, both of them come into this game trailing the best teams in their respective leagues and they will look to gain ground with a victory here on Thursday evening. This should be a solid game between two of the top teams in all of baseball, as both teams look for a statement victory here in this one.

The Atlanta Braves were a team that came into this season with expectations of competing for a World Series, but that train ran off the tracks once Ronald Acuna ended up with a season ending injury. Although it may be unfair to say that the Atlanta Braves are already out of World Series contention it certainly does not seem likely with the way the Philadelphia Phillies are running away with the National League East division. It’ll be important for Atlanta to have a strong second half of the season and that starts with grabbing a victory here on Thursday afternoon on the road in Baltimore against the Orioles.

Atlanta has been on a rough stretch as of late losing seven out of their last 10 and five in a row coming into this game on Thursday. This feels like a must win game for the Atlanta Braves if they want to get back on track and cut into their current ten game deficit behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the division. Atlanta has already dropped the opening two games of this series to Baltimore by a combined score of 8 to 2 over the past couple of days. Now they will look to salvage a little bit of momentum with a much-needed victory to wrap up the series on Thursday before heading into the middle of June.

The Baltimore Orioles had high expectations coming into the regular season and so far they have lived up to those expectations. They will look to take it a step further and complete the three series sweep of the Atlanta Braves here at home on Thursday afternoon. Baltimore comes into this game sitting in second place of the toughest division in baseball, and they will look to gain ground on the New York Yankees with a victory here in this one. This is a Baltimore team that has a legitimate shot of being a World Series contender by the time the postseason comes around, as long as they can remain healthy and consistent.

The starting pitching matchup for this game on Thursday will be a good one. As Reynoldo Lopez takes the mound for the Atlanta Braves and Cole Irvin gets the baseball for the Baltimore Orioles. Lopez has had his struggles throughout the early part of the year in Irving has been pretty solid as a decent number two behind Corbin Burnes, but they should provide a quality pitching matchup here in this one. Despite the recent struggles of Atlanta Braves will need to shut down a solid lineup throughout this game if they want to lead their team to victory.

Betting trends to consider in this matchup:

- BAL has won 6 in a row and ATL has lost 5 in a row

- Baltimore is 23-12 at home

- Atlanta is 16-18 on the road

I expect this to be a close and competitive game between the Atlanta Braves and the Baltimore Orioles here on Thursday afternoon. In the end I expect the Baltimore Orioles to grab the victory at home over the Atlanta Braves to wrap up this series. Considering the fact that both of these teams have two of the best offenses in all of Major League Baseball I expect this series finale to be a high scoring contest that ends with Baltimore’s lineup getting best of a Ronald Acuna-less Atlanta Braves.
