Tuesday night brings us to the Midwest to take a look at an Interleague matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Detroit Tigers inside Comerica Park.
After securing a four run lead last night heading into the 7th inning, the Braves collapsed unlike they have done all year long. Even worse, Raisel Iglesias blew a save with a three run lead in the 9th inning to send it into extras where they eventually lost in the 10th. Putting that game to the side and looking at the big picture, Atlanta has been superb in the first few months of the season, coming into tonight's game with a 40-26 record, good for first in the NL East by 3.5 games. They have lost their last two games, but still are 7-3 in their last ten games, indicating that they don't plan on slowing down anytime soon. Moving forward, the Braves will be thrilled that they will be teeing off against a right-hander tonight, as they have obliterated right-handed pitching all year long. Can the Braves bring their bats to the second game of the series on Tuesday night to force a rubber match?

Before their comeback last night, the Tigers were on the wrong side of the final score in nine straight games. After a promising start where they hovered around the .500 mark for a good bit of the first fifty or so games, they have gone on an abysmal stretch of games where they have not been able to get their bats going at all. In their nine game losing streak, they scored three or less runs in seven of those games. It does not matter who they put out on the mound, if they are to bounce back and gain momentum again as the year progresses, they will need to find better ways to manufacture runs on a consistent basis. On the bump for Detroit will be prospect Reese Olson, who has pitched well in his first two outings, albet against struggling offenses at the time. Nonetheless, he had a 6.38 ERA in Triple-A before he got called up, so he will have to bring his A-game if he is to hold a dominating Braves offense down.
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- Atlanta is 20-11 on the road
- The over is 31-23-3 when the Braves are the favorites
- The over is 19-12 when the Tigers play at home
Partnering the Braves being one of the best teams in the major leagues at hitting right-handed pitching with the fact that they will be facing off against a pitcher who was struggling mightily in his first 36.2 innings in the minor leagues, give me the Braves to put up at least a six spot on the board before the night ends!
