Game Info: Friday, October 27th, 2023 at 8:05 p.m. EST (Globe Life Field)
Betting Odds: Diamondbacks ML (+140) - Over/Under (8)
Pick: Diamondbacks ML (+140)
Game one of the World Series is here and nobody could’ve expected the two teams that would be playing in it just a few days ago, as both teams led furious comebacks and there were respective championship series to make the World Series. Now the Arizona Diamondbacks will hit the road to Texas to play the Rangers for the opening game of the 2023 World Series in both teams will be looking to win their first world championship in several seasons as for the first time in a long time, it will not be the Houston Astros who could potentially get crowned as World Series champions.
The Arizona Diamondbacks picked up three victories in a row to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Championship Series and now Arizona will be looking to win their first World Series since 2001. Arizona has been a solid team all year long and they have been one of the most consistent teams in the league throughout the regular season. They really turned it up throughout the postseason as they used a massive comeback in the NLCS against the Phillies, to win their first National League pennant in over two decades.
Throughout all three of the postseason knocked out two divisional champions and the defending National League pennant holder, which means they certainly earned their spot here in the World Series against the Texas Rangers. Unfortunately, for Arizona, they get the shorter end of the stick in this one as they will have four games on the road but if they play like they played on the road and Philadelphia over the final two games of that series, then Arizona has a legitimate shot at winning their first World Series title in over 20 seasons.

The Texas Rangers set a goal several years ago to get back to this stage and they did. Over the last couple of seasons they have invested plenty of money into big-time hitters like Marcus Semein, and Corey Seager, and they pretty much made it all but official that they were going all in when they traded for Max Scherzer at the trade deadline. Texas got a hot start in their previous playoff series against the World Series champions, the Houston Astros, and despite fizzling out throughout the middle of the series, Texas battled back and won game seven in decisive fashion to advance to the World Series.
Now they will be looking to carry the momentum from that playoff series over into this game here on Friday night as they open up the World Series at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Texas put up solid play consistently throughout the regular season before falling off towards the end of the year and it ended up costing them an American League West division title. However, they have still gotten the job done as a wildcard team. They will be looking to get this World Series off on the right foot and pick up a victory here on Friday night over the Arizona Diamondbacks at home.
Betting trends to consider in this matchup:
- Arizona is 53-39 after a win this season
- Arizona is 47-42 on the road this season
- Arizona has won their last 2 road playoff games
I expect this to be a solid game between two quality baseball teams here on Friday night in Arlington. In the end, I’m going with the Arizona Diamondbacks to pick up the victory simply because of the starting pitching matchup in this game. I look for Zac Gallen, who will likely win the National League Cy Young award to outduel Nathan Eovaldi here on Friday night on the road. As I look for the Arizona Diamondbacks to win a close game here on Friday night between these two teams, and I look for Arizona to grab the upper hand in the opening game of the World Series.
